Description
Elfeet Bay
Elfeet Bay is in the parish of Newtowncashel on Lough Ree’s eastern shore. It’s a beautiful area, and when we were kids, it was like a little resort. Our next door neighbour’s brother, Tom Kelly used to open up his field and for an old pound a car you could drive down to the shore and spend the day picnicking and swimming around in the shallow and sheltered waters of the lake. On a fine Sunday , it was Cannes or Biarritz in the Irish Midlands.
