Description
We are located right beside the bridge in Lanesborough at the top of Lough Ree, and Dead Centre Brewing in Athlone is right beside the bridge at the bottom of the lake. Their brewpub is a great place for a pizza, a pint of craft beer and they are decent folks with a lot of ambition, and most importantly they are consistently brewing top class beers. We’ve a few different collaborations on the go and this beer is the fruits of one of them.
We lent two recently emptied whiskey casks to Dead Centre Brewing in Athlone to mature one of their seasonal special beers. This sold-out beer, called Here, Right Now– was a hyper-local Imperial Stout, brewed with Kilbeggan Oatmeal, and infused with Kilbeggan Chocolate and Bell Lane Coffee from Mullingar. It was a gorgeous beer, big and tasty at 7.1% ABV and an ideal one for sharing or for a long night by the fire.
Once the beer was matured, the casks were emptied and brought to Lanesborough to fill with Triple Distilled Single Malt Irish Whiskey from Great Northern Distillery. This is the release from the second cask, we’ve called it Dead Centre No. 2.
Whiskey:
2016 GND Malt, 46% ABV, Limited Edition 315 bottles.
Maturation:
5 year old Single Malt, matured initially in a Bourbon Cask, then finished for 14 weeks in a cask that held Dead Centre Brewing’s Here Right Now Stout.

Easter egg milk chocolate, oatmeal, vanilla.

Soft and mouthcoating with loads of chocolate, roast malt and coffee.
